The head of the future Italian government, George Meloni, noted in the social network, that the country will continue to support Ukraine and its President Zelensky in every possible way. George Meloni leads the Brothers of Italy party, who won the parliamentary elections 25 September this year as part of the centre-right coalition.
The leader of the "Brothers of Italy" tipped the post of the new head of government of the country, which, according to Italian law, means, that she will be the head of state. And Meloni, as it appears, becomes the first woman in history – Prime Minister of Italy.
Meloni promised, that in Ukraine there can be no doubt that Rome will continue to support the “cause of the freedom of the Ukrainian people”. These words were in response to congratulations on the victory of the Ukrainian president addressed to Meloni, which were also sent through the social network.
Meloni's party won the most votes in parliamentary elections - 26 with a small percentage. It should be noted, that the right-wing League party was also in coalition with the Brothers of Italy. At one time, its leader Matteo Salvini declared the legality of the annexation of Crimea to Russia. And in 2019 Salvini called Russian President Vladimir Putin "one of the best statesmen on the planet".
