The Ministry of Defense made a decision to create a command post based on the latest Mi-38 helicopter. The creation of a new car should be completed by the spring of next year.. It is reported by the Russian Defense Ministry, transmit “Notifications”.
As explained in the Ministry of Defense, new air command post (VKP) based on the Mi-38 helicopter will be able to receive and process information about the course of hostilities in real time, coordinate the actions of different types of troops on the scale of the district or interspecific grouping. The helicopter will be equipped with a modern control system, which one, not called. In terms of the tasks performed, the new VKP should be similar to strategic air command posts based on aircraft – Il-80 and Il-82 (aircraft “doomsday”). Of course, the helicopter will not be able to replace the plane in terms of range, no other possibilities, but he will be able to supplement and facilitate the work of the aircraft-type VKP.
To ensure its own defense, the VKP based on the Mi-38 will receive an L370V38S onboard complex “Vitebsk”. The development will be based on the option, already used on the modernized combat Mi-35M. Electronic warfare equipment testing, production and delivery of the first three sets for equipping prototypes is planned at the beginning 2021 of the year.

The medium multipurpose helicopter Mi-38 occupies a niche between the Mi-8 and the heavy Mi-26 and can be used to transport goods and passengers, used as a search and rescue helicopter, as well as for flights over the water surface. Mi-38T (troop-carrier) is a military version of the Mi-38. It is designed for round-the-clock airlift of personnel up to 40 people landing on unprepared sites, medical evacuations (to 12 a person in a supine position and up 30 – seated, accompanied by two paramedics), transportation of goods weighing up to five tons in the cargo compartment or on an external sling.
The Mi-38T helicopter is equipped with new highly efficient domestic TV7-117V engines and an integrated digital flight and navigation system.
The flight range of the Mi-38T in a transport configuration is up to 1000 kilometers (with additional fuel tanks). Maximum take-off weight – 15,6 tons. full speed – 300 km / h. Flights can be performed at altitudes up to 6300 m.
