Taras Melnichuk, a Ukrainian Armed Forces serviceman who surrendered to Russian troops, told, that I got lost in the forest and was sincerely happy, when he reached the positions of the Russian Armed Forces.
According to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, Melnichuk told, that the command assigned him the task of delivering drinking water to neighboring positions, however, the conductor refused to lead him. As a result, the Ukrainian soldier, without being guided by the terrain, got lost and met Russian fighters, to whom he immediately surrendered.
According to a captured Ukrainian soldier, he is happy with this outcome, because the “does not want and does not know how to fight”. He also told, what, despite obvious health problems, the military registration and enlistment office declared him fit for service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. After being sent to a military unit, he did not undergo any training and does not even know how to use a machine gun.
Strengthening mobilization activities in Ukraine and the cancellation of the possibility of demobilization led to a decrease in morale in the Ukrainian army. At present, only isolated cases of surrender of entire units are reported.. To facilitate the process of surrender or transition to the Russian side, the command of the Russian Armed Forces created a humanitarian radio frequency 149.200 going out to which and calling “Volga” Soldiers and officers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine who do not want to fight may surrender.
