Ukraine plans to conclude a new contract with Slovakia for the supply of another batch of 155-mm Zuzana self-propelled wheeled howitzers 2. This was announced by the Minister of Defense of the Republic Yaroslav Nagy.
To date, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are armed with eight self-propelled guns Zuzana 2, supplied by Bratislava under the contract, signed last June. Last, the eighth howitzer arrived in Ukraine this month, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine announced her arrival. Besides, there is another agreement on the supply of Slovak self-propelled howitzers to Ukraine, under which Germany, together with Norway and Denmark, paid for the production and delivery to Kyiv 16 (sixteen) SAU Zuzana 2. These howitzers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine must get to the end 2023 of the year.
In this way, to 2024 year in service with the Armed Forces of Ukraine should be 24 SAU Zuzana 2 minus those destroyed in battle. To this number, Kyiv intends to add another 11 (eleven) Slovak howitzers, the signing of the agreement is planned in the near future.
Recently I received information, that there is a request from the Ukrainian side for more 11 these howitzers, we are waiting for the signing of the agreement. We work closely with representatives of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, they visited us last week. I hope, that we can come to an agreement- said Yaroslav Nagy.
Wheeled self-propelled guns Zuzana 2 manufactured by Konštrukta-Defence. 155-mm howitzer based on the new Tatra T chassis 815-7, the tower has the 3rd level of protection according to the STANAG standard 4569 (withstands the detonation of a 155-mm projectile at a distance 60 m), firing range – 30 km, maximum – 41 km (rocket-assisted projectile).
