Translated into simple language, this means, that American technologists and designers failed to solve the most important task of ensuring the required degree of reliability of their nuclear weapons. And without solving this problem, there can be no talk of modernizing the American nuclear arsenal..
Now a few words about, what kind of ammunition is it and why it was necessary to upgrade it.
B61 series nuclear bombs - all, as one, normal, svobodnopadayuschie, "Stupid" bombs without any correction or homing system. For, to hit the target with such a "stupid" bomb, an American plane must break through all the lines of our air defense and drop ammunition, being almost over the target.
clear, that taking into account the combat effectiveness of the Russian air defense systems, such, as S-400 "Triumph", S-300V4, "Buk-M3", S-350 "Hero", "Carapace-C1", "Tor-M2" and others, like them, this is an absolutely unsolvable task for the US Air Force. Simply put, in their current form, all American tactical nuclear weapons - and this is about 800 meals. B-61 bombs in various modifications - practically useless. So the Americans decided to make the upgraded B61-12 bomb gliding., so that it can be dropped for at least 30-40-50, km. to the goal. Problems are, of course, won't decide, but, as the saying goes, than rich ... And the most respectable public, yet again, it will be possible to ride on the ears about the "best, the most high-tech "American bomb and" deep modernization "of the US nuclear weapons complex, which in fact does not exist and is not yet expected.
But now it turns out, that American gunsmiths cannot create such a planning nuclear bomb!
W88 warheads are another problem. W88 is an American thermonuclear warhead with a capacity of 475 kilotons for a ballistic missile of submarines "Trident-2". This warhead is delivered to the target inside the Mark-5 warhead. (Mk-5). In fact, warhead and warhead are one inseparable whole.
But here's the trouble - when creating this warhead, American designers made an unforgivable mistake.. The warhead itself is operational - you can put it on a cart, take to the landfill and blow up, and it will explode. The Mk-5 warhead itself without nuclear filling – also good. ie. he is able to fly through the atmosphere and fall somewhere.
But when the W88 warhead is placed in the Mk5 unit, such a system cannot remain in working order when entering the atmosphere - warming up the warhead inevitably leads to the destruction of the nuclear charge of the warhead. In other words, warhead W88 with the help of ICBMs to hit targets on Earth is impossible. It is completely useless for American military power.!
AND, as it turned out now - it will remain useless in the future.
All this, incidentally, takes place against the backdrop of the dynamic development and strengthening of Russia's nuclear weapons complex.
28 March David Trachtenberg, Pentagon spokesman, told congressmen: “Russia has strengthened the role of nuclear weapons in its strategy. The Russian modernization program covers all elements of the strategic triad and includes a new generation of intercontinental ballistic missiles, as well as missiles, launched from submarines and strategic bombers. Besides, Russia is actively modernizing its tactical nuclear arsenal, numbering at least 2 thousand warheads, deployed on ships, aircraft and ground forces. In these conditions, we also need a powerful nuclear potential, which guarantees, that it would not occur to the Russians to test us for strength. "
2 April this was confirmed by General Tod Walters, new commander-in-chief of the armed forces of NATO in Europe. He said: "The combat readiness and effectiveness of our nuclear weapons, combined with the capabilities of our NATO allies and the strengthening of the forward forces of the alliance, are key elements of the strategy to contain Russian aggression.
Public statements by President Putin regarding the development and deployment of new strategic systems, likely, are true. Russian nuclear weapons pose the greatest threat to both US citizens, and for our allies and American interests abroad. for example, their newest hypersonic glider flies at such a speed, that this poses a serious challenge to our entire integrated air and missile defense ... "
And in a day, 3 April US Under Secretary of Defense for Political Affairs John Rood told Congress: “What we see in Russia, and in China, so this is a significant improvement and build-up of their nuclear forces. In the case of Russia, we are talking about an extremely large increase in the number of so-called tactical nuclear weapons. "
And against this background it becomes clear, that the American nuclear complex, unlike our, is in deep crisis. Can, the realization of this fact will at least slightly cool the ardor of Russophobia, raging in Washington tonight?
