The naval forces of Russia and Iran will hold joint military exercises in Iran's southern waters this year.
At present, Russian and Iranian navies continue to cooperate on a number of operational, educational and technical issues. The corresponding statement was announced to journalists on Monday, 29 April, commander of the naval forces of Iran Hossein khanzada.
According khanzada, sea vessels can come to the southern ports of Iran in the coming months. However, the exact date and venue of the joint naval exercises between the two states were not disclosed. According to media reports, teaching can take place in the area of the Strait of Hormuz, separating the Persian and Oman Gulfs.
