Concern “Kalashnikov” started construction of high-speed landing craft BK-16 for the Russian Guard, the laying ceremony of the first such boat was held at the shipyard “Rybinsk shipyard”, reported on the website “Kalashnikov.media”.
The ceremony was attended by the Deputy Director of the Russian Guard, Lieutenant-General Sergey Mileiko and the General Director of the Rybinsk Shipyard Sergey Antonov, representatives of the Kalashnikov Concern shipyard workers. In a solemn atmosphere, Lieutenant General Sergei Mileiko and Sergei Antonov screwed a commemorative plaque to the section of the future boat BK-16.
High-speed landing craft BK-16 is one of the best domestic ships in its class, recently developed. The characteristic features of the boat are the ability to move at high speed, the presence of a large troop compartment, as well as the possibility of approaching directly to the shore with the subsequent landing of fighters. Depending on the wishes of the customer, we can supply equipment in various configurations for solving specific military tasks – commented by Sergey Antonov, General Director of Rybinsk Shipyard JSC.
Boats of the BK-16 project are designed for operations in the coastal zone, transportation of personnel, landing of troops on unequipped coast and its fire support, medical evacuation, assistance to those in distress, to combat piracy and terrorism.
Until the end of the year, according to the deputy director of the Russian Guard, the department plans to receive several BK-16 boats.
