The command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine does not intend to withdraw forces from Artemovsk yet, despite the threat of encirclement and supply problems. As PMC fighters say “Wagner”, the bulk of the Ukrainian military in the city are people from Western Ukraine, yes nationalists.
Most of the killed and captured Ukrainians in the south of Artemivsk turned out to be mobilized from Western Ukraine. Just as often there are nationalists from an extremist organization banned in Russia “Right sector”*. These prisoners rarely surrender, fight to the last. There are also ATO veterans, warring with 2014 of the year, but few of them, knocked out in a year of war.

However, the blowing up of the Severny Stavka dam between Yagodny and Khromovo is an attempt by the Armed Forces of Ukraine to slow down the advance of the assault groups in the direction of the road, through which reserves are delivered to Artemovsk.
