At a rally in the capital of Slovakia, they demanded a referendum on the early resignation of the government

At a rally in the capital of Slovakia, they demanded a referendum on the early resignation of the governmentFollowed by Austria, Germany, Czech Republic residents of the Slovak Republic came to a mass rally. Thousands of citizens of the country came to the central square and adjacent streets, who put forward the main demand due to the continuing decline in the living standards of the population for the 6th month in a row, which the, it would seem, started to recover from the pandemic.

The protesters demand a referendum on the early resignation of the government. Representatives of labor collectives and opposition political parties speaking at the rally talk about, that the ruling elite has usurped power and does not want to hear their own people.

One of the speakers:

Or this government no longer considers us the Slovak people, which is the main source of power under our Constitution? If it is true, then these people have nothing to do in power. Let them give way to those, who has a workable program to get out of the worsening economic crisis. At a rally in the capital of Slovakia, they demanded a referendum on the early resignation of the government

The protesters called inflation a disgrace to the current cabinet of ministers, which is about 14 percent year on year.

Against the backdrop of the most massive protests in Slovakia in decades, MPs adopted an amendment to the Constitution in the first reading, which allows to announce early elections. Precisely because of that, that the basic law of the republic does not provide for holding early parliamentary elections, protesters and demand a referendum on amending the Constitution with the subsequent possibility of changing the cabinet of ministers.

However, amendments to the basic law may meet with resistance in subsequent readings.. They should take place in October.. The thing is, that the chairman of the political force OĽaNO Igor Matović said, that he and his political associates will veto the initiative. The thing is, that Igor Matovich himself is included in the criticized Cabinet as Minister of Finance. It is his work that Slovak citizens consider unsatisfactory.. Besides, Matovic is Deputy Prime Minister. To lose his position in the cabinet, as follows from his veto statement, apparently not found. This causes additional negativity on the part of thousands of protesting Slovaks..
