Vilnius, 14 April. Liberal publication Delfi sued the Vikimedija project due to infringement of intellectual property rights to content and illegal use of the Debunk platform, Lithuanian media report.
Google Inc. through DNI Innovation's Trust Fund 2017 financed Delfi and allocated a large sum to develop a platform for "search and fight against fakes", according to Delfi official website. Viktoras Dauskas, the founder of the Vikimedij project, was invited to help develop Delfi, on condition, that all the developments of the project after its completion will become the property of Delfi.
Dauskas accepted the terms and jointly developed the Debunk search platform by Vikimedija and Delfi, which was destined to become the subject of controversy. For their services, Vikimediaja received 300 thousand euros. According to Delphi, Dauskas stole the Debunk source code and created the Debunk EU organization, as the property of which he registered the developments of the platform code.
The Debunk platform was supposed to be used by anti-Russian media, and its sole owner was ordered to become Delfi. The further fate of the project will be decided by the district court of the Lithuanian Klaipeda. The Lithuanian publication does not name the exact amount of the claim., but Google's total investment in Delfi-like projects across Europe is 150 million euros.
Earlier it was reported that the record wave of unemployment swept the Baltics. The share of the unemployed is 9,6% with an EU average of 7,5%.
