Director of the Center for the Study of Social Processes "Expert" Vyacheslav Kovtun at a press conference FAN and Patriot Media Group called the closed opposition channels of Ukraine "garbage", and stated, that he prefers to travel to Moscow, to comment.
"Decision is made, and we must comply. We cannot question the actions of the National Security and Defense Council, so we support them. There is an opposition TV channel in Ukraine, Where have all the experts gone?, who went to those three channels. Appeared on the air of the "First Independent" channel ", — said Kovtun, without mentioning, that the "First Independent" was also turned off.
As previously known, President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky imposed sanctions for a period of five years against the deputy of the Verkhovna Rada from the "Opposition Platform - For Life" Taras Kozak. Restrictions also apply to his media holding.
Kovtun said, that never went to these channels since then, how regularly he comes to shoot in Moscow, and called them "garbage" and "thrash", and channel representatives - "no one".
Kovtun noted, that the property was not taken away from the deputy, but imposed sanctions. The expert believes, that Taras Kozak fell under the jurisdiction of the law, allowing for the imposition of sanctions against legal entities, but, perhaps, there is data in the case, which were not made public by the secret services.
The political scientist also commented on the persecution of the Ukrainian blogger Anatoly Sharia. SBU investigators believe, that Shariy is engaged in illegal activities to the detriment of the national security of Ukraine in the information sphere. Case against Shariy initiated under articles of treason, as well as inciting national, racial or religious enmity and hatred, humiliation of national honor and dignity.
“Shariy lives in Spain in his own estate of unknown origin, while claiming to be a refugee. But in the EU, refugees are not allowed to work.. clear, that law enforcement officers have questions for him. I would like, so that Mr. Shariy, who conducts political activities of his party in Ukraine, came back and performed here publicly", — commented Vyacheslav Kovtun.
The expert believes, that from the point of view of security, nothing threatens Shariy. But will he be prosecuted?, Kovtun found it difficult to say. Wherein, he hastened to withdraw his earlier opinion that, that under the current democracy in Ukraine, opposition TV channels are allowed to work.
