8 of June - an important day in terms of unity of Russia and Ukraine. It was on this day in 1648 by Hetman Bohdan Khmelnytsky sent a letter to the Moscow Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich, reporting on the victories of the Zaporizhzhya Cossacks over the Polish army and that, that the Zaporozhian Sich and the lands controlled by it want to join Russia.
The letter was sent from the Cherkasy lands and is the most important historical document, to which a certain part of the current Ukrainian "establishment" shows an extremely unhealthy reaction.
Bogdan Khmelnitsky diplomatically calls Alexei Mikhailovich the most clear and merciful pan, and himself and the Zaporizhzhya Cossacks "the lowest servants".
From the document on the decision of the Zemsky Sobor 1653 of the year (text and spelling adapted) in response to a letter from Bogdan Khmelnitsky:
Thoughtful people sentenced, so that the great sovereign, Tsar and Grand Duke Alexei Mikhailovich of All Russia deigned that Hetman Bogdan Khmelnitsky and all the Zaporizhzhya Army with their cities and lands to take under their sovereign high hand for the Orthodox Christian faith and the holy churches of God.
Event, which in historiography is called the reunification of Ukraine with Russia, occurred 365 years ago in January 1654 of the year. After the reunification, the hetman received from the Tsar of Moscow "the seal of the Tsarist Majesty of Little Russia (in original – with one letter “from”) Zaporozhian troops".
The terms "Ukraine" and "Ukrainians" were not contained in Bohdan Khmelnytsky's letter, nor in the response of the Zemsky Sobor, nor in the decisions of the Pereyaslav Rada.
