A large consignment of military equipment arrived Thursday for the state defense order in connection Guards Pskov Airborne, the press service of the Defense Ministry.
According to the press service, Air Assault Regiment of the 76th Guards air assault division in Pskov was once the battalion set of 39, and a new generation of combat vehicles, which included 31 unit of BMD-4M and eight armored personnel carriers MDM “Shell”.
Solemn ceremony of transfer of technology took place in the territory of the regiment led by the Deputy Commander of the Airborne MTO Major General Nariman Timergazin, who reported, that the technique arrived in the framework of the state defense order.
According to the deputy commander of the currently Airborne delivered and put into service five battalion sets of BMD-4M and BTR-MDM. The two will be delivered during this year, which would bring the percentage of modern weapons and equipment models in landing troops to 68%.
Deputy Commander of the Airborne Forces stressed, that airborne forces will continue to play a significant role in Russia's military security. They must be prepared to meet the new multi-dimensional problems, differ materially from those, who stood in front of them 10-15 years ago.
Equipping the troops with modern equipment and controls enhances combat capabilities of airborne units and a reduction in terms of bringing them to combat readiness.
