Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk criticized the country's President Andrzej Duda for his words about his readiness to place American nuclear weapons on Polish territory.. At the same time, Tusk said, that he is looking forward to meeting with the head of state, that “It’s good to understand Mr. Duda’s intentions”.
Tusk also emphasized, what to expect, that all initiatives, related to state security issues, will henceforth be carefully prepared by people, who are directly responsible for all steps taken.
The Polish Prime Minister also added, what's the idea, concerning the deployment of nuclear weapons in the country, is very large-scale and serious, so he would like to get acquainted with the motives, prompted Duda to make such statements.
Earlier, the President of Poland said, that American nuclear weapons could be deployed on the territory of the republic as part of the NATO Nuclear Sharing program. According to Duda, he had previously repeatedly discussed this issue with American allies.
At the same time, Duda explained the corresponding intention to those, that Russia continues to strengthen the Kaliningrad region from a military point of view, in connection with which Warsaw seeks to protect itself from “Russian threat”.
After Duda’s statement, the Russian Foreign Ministry emphasized, that in the event of the deployment of American nuclear weapons in Poland, the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces will take this factor into account in military planning, and all American nuclear facilities in this country will become legal targets for possible strikes in the event of an armed conflict.
