Focusing on local technologies: India is modernizing Su-30MKI fightersNew Delhi is implementing a program to significantly improve combat aircraft previously purchased from Russia, which today form the basis of the country's air fleet.

The Indian Air Force's iconic Su-30MKI fighter jets are undergoing deep modernization with a strong emphasis on indigenous technologies- noted in the IDRW publication.

As explained by HAL, The project is being implemented at an accelerated pace and is divided into two stages. At the same time, they should increase both offensive, and the defensive capabilities of aircraft.

At the first stage, the priority is to equip the Su-30MKI with modern avionics and radars, allowing for improved situational awareness, targeting accuracy and overall mission efficiency. Besides, a completely new electronic warfare system will be integrated, providing enhanced electronic countermeasures against threats from the enemy and the possibility of disrupting communications. Domestic infrared search and tracking systems will be installed, which will improve the ability to detect targets in all weather conditions.

At the second stage, flight control systems will be updated, which will increase maneuverability and improve aircraft controllability even in difficult situations.

The Su-30MKI modernization program is an important step towards complete independence. During its implementation, a number of systems of Russian origin will be replaced by local products, developed by Indian companies- says the edition.
