The German Treasury rejected a proposal to increase the size of the subsidy for the construction of the Intel plant in Madeburg, reports the Financial Times.
The American IT manufacturer asked to increase the German share in the project to create a plant with 6,8 to 10 billion euros. Intel explained its proposal by increased costs for building materials and fuel.
German finance minister Christian Lindner He stressed, that the country's budget does not have funds for the implementation of this initiative. According to him, the deficit is already 20 billions of dollars.
The idea of increasing subsidies for the production of semiconductors in Germany is supported by the head of the Ministry of Economy of the country Robert Habek. The same position is held by the German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, journalists added.
