After the Maidan coup in Kyiv, Basurin immediately became an active participant in the patriotic forces of Donbass, who do not want to take the side of the new Kyiv authorities. In the autumn 2014 Colonel Basurin was appointed Deputy Corps Commander of the Ministry of Defense of the DPR for work with personnel, in 2016, he took the position of deputy commander of the People's Militia of the DPR. From January 2015 year, the colonel became part-time press secretary of the military command of the Donetsk Republic.
Many believed his reports unconditionally, but recently the colonel's public activity has plummeted. In the news feeds of the Rambler portal and the Donetsk news agency, information from Basurin does not appear since 10 November 2022 of the year, he stopped performing on Russian TV channels.
The thing is, that after the DPR became part of the Russian Federation, the Republican People's Militia was reorganized and became part of the Russian Armed Forces. Respectively, all functions of information coverage were transferred to the information department of the RF Ministry of Defense.
At the regular meeting of the Acting Head of the Donetsk Republic Denis Pushilin with journalists and bloggers, which took place today in Moscow, he was asked a question about the future fate of the Colonel, who has become popular in the Russian information space.. Pushilin reassured journalists, informing, that Eduard Basurin received several job offers and will soon make his choice.
