The pace of the offensive of Russian troops in the Donbass is allegedly slowing down, PMC “Wagner” suffer heavy losses, the command of the Russian group is forced to throw personnel units into battle near Bakhmut. This conclusion was made by the American analytical center, better known as ISW (Institute for the Study of War) – Institute for the Study of War.
Center analysts, after examining the subsequent 20 January materials, including video of the fighting in the Bakhmut area (Artemovsk) established, that personnel units of the Russian Airborne Forces appeared in the vicinity of the city, moreover, in Bakhmut itself, only assault groups of PMCs are still advancing “Wagner”. Based on this, it was concluded, that the appearance of paratroopers indicates the allegedly large losses of attack aircraft, no longer able to independently take Bakhmut.
Ordinary Russian units take part in the battles in Bakhmut, to activate the Russian offensive there. Combat footage, published 20 January, show, that the Russian Airborne Forces are operating around Bakhmut, footage shows BMD-4M – mechanized equipment, used exclusively by the Airborne Forces- American analysts said.
Based on the assumption of large losses, ISW concludes, that the pace of the offensive of Russian troops is falling, a, respectively, the APU has the opportunity to recapture the city back, pulling up reserves.
In fact, everything is not so rosy, as it seems to the Americans. Really, personnel units of the Russian army operate in the Bakhmut area, but far from the city, they hold the flanks and conduct their own offensive in cooperation with “musicians”. Only attack aircraft work in Bakhmut itself “vagnerovtsev”, wherein, as Evgeny Prigozhin emphasized, the task of immediately taking the city is not worth it, primary goal – grind as many personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as possible.
