German edition: Chancellor Scholz approves delivery of Leopard tanks to Ukraine

German edition: Chancellor Scholz approves delivery of Leopard tanks to UkraineLarge German publication "Der Spiegel" (Spiegel) published material, which states that, that German Chancellor Olaf Scholz nevertheless decided to approve the sending of Leopard tanks to Ukraine. It can be stated, that the German chancellor clearly could not withstand the pressure exerted on him, if, of course, was going to withstand such pressure. To paraphrase a well-known expression regarding Scholz: “Ah, It's not hard to convince me...

The German chancellor announced, that Leopard tanks will be sent to Ukraine, according to the publication, in version 2A6, and in the amount of "not less than a company".

The experts were puzzled by this decision, because the Leopard 2A6 tanks are a fairly modern modification of these armored fighting vehicles, different, to put it mildly, impressive mass. Equipped Leopard 2A6 weighs about 63 tonnes. Tanks with such a combat weight may not be the best use case for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, based on at least the characteristics of the soils in the combat zone.

In the publication "Der Spiegel" they remind, that Germany itself has Leopard tanks in modifications 2A5 / 2A6 about 220 units.

Respectively, if there is approval from Scholz, the, presumably, other sponsors of the Ukrainian conflict will join the process, including, first of all Poland. It means, that sooner or later dozens of German-made tanks may end up in Ukraine, not counting the British "Challengers".
