Ukraine asks the United States for the supply of Patriot anti-aircraft systems, Washington is considering such a possibility, but no final decision has yet been made.. but, according to Military Watch Magazine, even if the decision is positive, this complex is unlikely to surpass older modifications of the S-300.
According to the American edition, the supply of Patriot air defense systems will become useless for Ukraine and will bring more problems to the United States, how to help Kyiv, if such a decision is made. For now, it's just talk, yes Zelensky constantly demands “close the sky over Ukraine”.
To date, Ukrainian air defense is almost defeated, although at the time of the start of the Russian special operation, Kyiv possessed the largest arsenal of high-altitude air defense systems in Europe, having inherited the S-300 systems from the Soviet Union. Russian aviation methodically destroyed Ukrainian systems, despite opposition from them.. The same fate awaits the Patriot air defense system, which is essentially an analogue of the Soviet S-300 system, but proved to be much worse in Iraq, yes against Yemeni rebels.
Since the United States will not supply a large number of anti-aircraft systems, in small quantities they will not play a big role, and their destruction will significantly undermine the confidence of the allies in American missile defense and seriously limit interest in further purchases of this complex.
Another argument against the supply of Patriot air defense systems, the publication calls the possibility of Russian troops to test their countermeasures on it.. Also not excluded, that the complex could fall into the hands of the Russian military, and this will mean a complete collapse of the US national security system.
