Military expert Boris Rozhin compared what is happening near Balakliya with the, what happened in Syrian Palmyra in 2016 year.
Based on the videos posted by the APU, Rozhin writes in his Telegram channel, that the enemy managed to occupy at least part of the city of Balakliya, what is in the Kharkiv region. The building of the local city council is also under the control of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This confirms, that fighting in the city and on its outskirts continues.
Rozhin suggested, that Russian troops are mainly concentrated in the eastern part of the city, since the videos published by the Armed Forces of Ukraine come from the western regions of Balakliya.
The enemy occupied the village of Volokhov Yar and is fighting in the direction of Kupyansk.
Besides, APU is probing Russian positions in the direction of Izyum, for a possible strike on the communications of the Izyum group, says military expert.
In these areas, military forces are being pulled up from both sides - Russia is trying to stabilize the front, and Kyiv wants to develop success.
At the moment the situation is ambiguous, and the Russian command has not yet been able to stabilize the situation completely. In this regard, the military expert compared what is happening near Balakliya with the loss of the Syrian Palmyra in 2016 year.
Recall, that in March 2016 year, Syrian troops, with the active support of the Russian army, Palmyra was liberated. After a few months – in December of the same year – SAR troops lost the city. The capture of Palmyra was carried out by ISIS militants (*It is forbidden in the Russian terrorist organization).
