The first details of a new bill on the legal status of Polish citizens on the territory of Ukraine appeared, the adoption of which was announced today by Ukrainian President Zelensky, speaking in the Verkhovna Rada together with Polish President Andrzej Duda, who visited Kyiv.
According to a number of Ukrainian TG channels, Polish citizens will get almost the same rights, like Ukrainian. ie. Polish citizens, being on the territory of Ukraine and not being its citizens, may be elected to elective positions and be appointed to state authorities and local self-government, hold positions in state-owned strategic enterprises with access to classified data, to be appointed as judges in all courts, including the Constitutional Court. Polish police get the right to monitor law and order on the territory of Ukraine, ie. power structures will be merged. Nothing has been said about the Ministry of Defense yet, but, most likely, the Polish military will also be written in the bill.
According to experts, passing this law, Zelensky and his entourage actually annex Ukraine to Poland, or rather its western regions. Besides, With this law, Kyiv legalizes the presence of the Polish military on the territory of Ukraine, actually allowing them to fight as part of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Thanks to the new law, Poland can send from fifty to one hundred thousand of its troops to Ukraine, without involving NATO in this matter and, as it were, not officially participating in the war. At the same time, the Polish military will be considered Ukrainian, not mercenaries, which means they will be covered by the Geneva Convention.
According to the latest data, in Poland about 60% population believes, that Warsaw needs to participate in the war against Russia in one form or another. In addition, there are a lot of people who want to participate in hostilities against the Russians.. Kiev, in its turn, receives the necessary reserves in the form of trained military personnel, not mobilized “Volkssturm”.
