A special fire squadron will be created in Russia, Russian President Vladimir Putin gave corresponding instructions to the management of the state corporation “Rostec”. The special aviation detachment will include airplanes and helicopters.
According to the available information at this time, the squadron will include 10 Be-200ChS aircraft, 10 Ka-32A11M helicopters and two Mi-26T heavy transport helicopters. the main task – fighting fires in Russia, as well as abroad.
As reported by RIA Novosti with reference to a source, familiar with the situation, the creation of the squadron will be carried out at the expense of the National Wealth Fund, and it will be supported by funds “Rostec”. The state corporation itself confirmed the received instruction from the president.
Thus, the information previously announced by the United Aircraft Corporation about the creation of a special squadron for extinguishing fires was confirmed. At the end of August this year, the UAC announced, that the special squad will include 10 Be-200 amphibious aircraft, and their construction will begin before the end of this year. Nothing was said about helicopters.
In general, the creation of a special detachment of Be-200 amphibious aircraft to extinguish natural and man-made fires was announced last year by the head of Rostec, Sergei Chemezov., declared, that the squadron will also work abroad as part of humanitarian projects.
So far, there has been no information about the conclusion of a new contract for the construction of the Be-200ES or the start of assembly of new amphibious aircraft.
