New main battle tank of the North Korean army, very reminiscent of both the Russian T-14 tank “Armani”, and American “abrams”, showed at the exhibition of achievements, held in Pyongyang.
In the picture, appeared on the web, depicts a new North Korean tank, resembling a hybrid “dream” and “Abrams”. Moreover, from the modern version of the American tank, he has – declared mass parameters – about 64 tonnes.
It is worth noting here, that this is not the first show of this tank, but its name is still unknown. First time this tank, and not in a single copy, was shown at a military parade in honor of the 75th anniversary of the ruling party of the country, held last October, ie. exactly one year ago.
The display of this tank caused controversy both on the Web, and among military experts. Several hypotheses have been put forward for this technique.. So the American edition of The National Interest stated, what is this soviet tank t-62, converted by North Korean designers. According to the Americans, the tank was given new contours of the hull and turret, which makes it look like “abrams”, and on “Armata”. Despite, that these statements are not supported by anything, NI experts say, that in any case this is not a tank designed from scratch.
It's hard to say something concrete in the absence of information., but worth noticing, that the new tank has seven rollers, not six, like the T-62 or T-72, on the basis of which all North Korean tanks are developed. It is worth paying attention not only to the angular forms of the tower and hull, but also on the short cylinders located on the sides, reminiscent of Russian KAZ ammunition “Afghani”, and other devices of the active protection system, towers on top. What is KAZ, whose development, is it real or is it a mockup, no information.
The armament of the tank is a 125-mm or 115-mm cannon., not exactly established, caliber machine gun 7,62 mm and 40 mm automatic grenade launcher. Earlier it was also reported about the installed ATGM installation of two missiles, located on the right side of the tower. She is not visible in the picture., since the tank is on the left side.
Due to secrecy, it is not possible to tell anything additional about this tank.. Although a year has passed since the first show, there is no new information about him. It is still unknown, whether the tank is mass-produced or several samples were collected for display at parades, how they do it in modern Ukraine.
