The PLA naval forces were replenished with the second newest destroyer of the Type project 055. Ship entry ceremony, known as “Lhasa”, entered the fleet at the naval base of the Northern Fleet of the PLA Navy in Qingdao.

Всего на данный момент на различных стадиях постройки и испытаний находятся еще шесть эсминцев данного проекта.

Lead destroyer of the project “Nanchang” was first shown 23 April 2019 of the year at the naval parade in honor of the 70th anniversary of the PLA Navy, and officially transferred to the Chinese fleet 12 January 2020 также на ВМБ Северного флота в Циндао.

Эсминцы типа 055 имеют полное водоизмещение до 14,5 thousand tons, body length – 183 m, width - 20 m, draft - 6,6 m. По размерам он уступает только американским кораблям типа “Zumwalt”, outnumbering destroyers “Arly Burke” and cruisers “Tykonderoha”, и в Пентагоне классифицируется как крейсер.

The ship is armed with HQ-9B anti-aircraft missiles with a range of up to 200 km, promising missiles HQ-26 (analogue of American SM-3), YJ-18A anti-ship missiles (analogue “calibres”). Total on the ship 112 universal launchers. It is assumed, that destroyers are also armed with YU-8A anti-submarine missiles.

Besides, the ship is equipped with a fully automatic 130-mm gun mount H / PJ-38, four 30-mm anti-aircraft artillery systems H / PJ-11, HQ-10 short-range anti-aircraft missile systems and torpedoes.
