Looks like, Syrian opposition leaders are too naive. They are not able to correctly assess the situation., therefore they will never defeat Assad.
This conclusion was made by Ali Safar, author of an article in the Lebanese electronic newspaper Al Modon.
Representatives of the opposition to the Syrian government forces drew attention, that information about corruption scandals began to appear in some Russian media, concerning Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and his entourage.
And the main thing for them was not the facts themselves. It didn’t matter even the degree of reliability of the information presented. The most important thing for the Syrian opposition was the fact that some Russian journalists were negative about Assad. maybe, they could not have imagined, that there are media in Russia, expressing an opinion diametrically opposite to the official position of the Russian Federation.
Based on this, they made false conclusions, that Russia is ceasing to support official Damascus and is allegedly turning to him on 180 degrees.
Negative articles in the Russian media about Assad, alleging its abuse and lack of support for legitimate authority by ordinary Syrians, forced the opposition to perk up. even those, who despaired of waiting for any change, suddenly believed, that Assad’s rule in Syria will end soon.
And of course, a public statement by the Russian ambassador in Damascus was made to them, like a bolt from the blue. The diplomat officially announced, that Russia intends to continue to support its Syrian friends, continuing the fight against terrorism.
