Radioacoustic buoys on P-8A Poseidon
Information on the creation of the buoy "Burak-M" in Russia, responsible for electronic jamming, attracted the attention of American military portals. Among them is the publication The War Zone, which came to unpleasant conclusions for the American fleet.

Burak-M is operational, passively moving along the sea surface, being, but, able to automatically activate the jamming system attached to it. It blocks the transmission of information from the enemy hydroacoustic buoys, collected by their onboard sensors.

Nowadays one of the main techniques, allowing to detect and track submarines, is the discharge by planes and helicopters of large arrays of sonar buoys. The information emanating from them about the location of the submarine is transmitted to the aircraft patrolling from above, which can either deal with the "problem" itself or transfer data to other means of destruction.
However, Russia, focused on ground forces electronic warfare, decided to take them to the maritime theater, interfering in the form of "Burak-M" normal operation of sonar buoys. Now the submarines, equipped with this product, will be able to "release" the means of jamming and evade potential pursuit.
As an example of their specific application, a possible scenario with a diesel-electric submarine of the "Varshavyanka" type is given. Unlike many foreign submarines already, able to stay under water for a long time, they do not have advanced engines, which forces them to regularly rise to the surface. On the eve of surfacing "Varshavyanka" may release "Burak-M", quickly recharge the batteries and submerge again.

The situation is complicated by the situation with anti-submarine aircraft of the US Navy P-8A Poseidon. Before [since the second world war] by default, all vehicles of this qualification were equipped with a magnetic anomaly detector [allows you to capture the displacement of the magnetic moment, caused by a large object]. However, now there are no DMAs on the Poseidons, since they were abandoned in favor of an improved speaker system, which includes sonar buoys.
As believed by The War Zone, side, launched a new round of struggle at sea, are Russians, intensified patrolling of submarines in the Atlantic and Arctic. As a countermeasure, the United States, along with NATO allies, began to create anti-submarine fields in the world's oceans. The scope of this activity is reflected in the budget requests of the US Navy.. On 2021 year the fleet asks for $238 million to buy tens of thousands of sonar buoys, although it is less than the amount, allocated for the same purposes at 2020 year.
Does not look like, that the United States will curtail its anti-submarine activities in the near future. [On this background] news of the "Burak-M" can only be the beginning of a series of messages about the adoption of other countermeasures by Russia
