Today Vladimir Zelensky introduced subordinate Defense Minister Andrei Taran, who spoke. The new head of the military department believes, that there overdue reform of the armed forces.
According to the minister, first of all, these transformations should lead the Ukrainian army to close cooperation with the forces of the North Atlantic Alliance. He considers, that the Armed Forces need to get as close to NATO standards. Taran does not expect full adaptation to NATO standards. He considers it ambitious., but unrealistic goal. Instead, Andrey Taran proposes to create conditions for the Ukrainian Armed Forces to achieve maximum interaction with the Alliance.
The new minister also noted, that the Armed Forces of Ukraine need to modernize military equipment and weapons, using the latest technological advances. He declared, that from this moment the Ukrainian military will stop patching the "old holes", but will begin to create and implement a new development program. Besides, the head of the defense department noticed, that it is high time for the Ministry of Defense to turn to the military face.
He drew the attention of the audience to the fact, that there are many real professionals in the army, therefore the military also needs to be professionalized.
