In the Lviv region of Ukraine started joint exercises, Nato and want to become part of NATO. We are talking about the maneuvers "Rapid Trident-2019" ("Rapid Trident-2019"), which are held on the basis of the National Academy of Land Forces of Ukraine named after Hetman Sagaidachny.
According to recent reports, these exercises involve about 4 thousands of troops. The exercises are commanded by Colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Alexander Zhakun and Colonel of the US Armed Forces Timothy Cleveland.
Servicemen from 13 states (besides, naturally, Ukraine itself). These are NATO contingents from Britain, USA, Italy, Turkey, Lithuania, Denmark, Germany, Romania, Poland, Canada and Bulgaria. Also, servicemen from Georgia and Moldova arrived for the exercises..
The largest contingent in the Lviv region was traditionally sent by the Pentagon: more 500 military.
Representatives of the so-called LitpolUkrbrig - brigades are also taking part in the exercises, made up of Lithuanians, Poles and Ukrainians. In the maneuvers, it is planned to use the forces and means of almost all Ukrainian law enforcement agencies., including the National Guard and the State Border Service.
The first stage of the "Swift Trident-2019" was the development of the removal of the wounded from the battlefield and the provision of first aid to them by the military personnel of the sanitary units.
The exercises involved about 600 pieces of equipment, including helicopters of the army aviation brigade (I-8).

The command and staff phase is carried out using simulation systems, i.e, powerful computers and unique software, which allow simulating the actions of their units and a conventional enemy in a single virtual space in real time. The goal of "Rapid Trident-2019" is to increase the level of compatibility between units and headquarters of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, USA, other NATO member states and partners.
At the opening of the exercises, it was not without words about “opposition to armed aggression”.
