Georgia launched a multinational military exercises Agile Spirit 2019 (“Agile Spirit 2019”), which involved 14 NATO and NATO partner countries Member, all over 3 thousands of people. The exercises will last until 9 August.
According to the Ministry of Defense of Georgia, this year the exercises will be larger than last year and will be held at three training grounds at once, located in different parts of the country: Senaki (in the West), in Vaziani (close to Tbilisi) and in Akhaltsikhe (on South).
The purpose of the exercises is to strengthen the defense capability of the Georgian Defense Forces, increasing the level of interoperability with the military units of NATO and partner countries of the alliance, creation and development of opportunities for multinational, regional and unified partnership, as well as strengthening security in the Black Sea region
– the message of the Georgian military department says.
According to Georgian Defense Minister Levan Izoria, a new component of the exercises will be the development of measures to improve the security of the Black Sea region.
The maneuvers will contribute to the implementation of our main principle - more NATO in Georgia, which will practically become the basis for the future integration of our country into the North Atlantic Alliance
– Izoria said.
Recall, that the international Agile Spirit exercises are annual and are held in Georgia since 2011 of the year. Separately from them, Noble Partner exercises are also held at the Vaziani training ground. (A worthy partner), in which only the United States and Georgia participate.
