The solemn ceremony of conferring the name of the Hero of the Russian Federation, Major Vladimir Nurgaliev, on a general educational institution took place today in Stavropol. Lyceum No. 14 was named after Vladimir Nurgaliyev, press service of the North Caucasian District of the National Guard Troops of the Russian Federation.
The event was attended by the widow of the Hero - Victoria, officers of the North Caucasian district of the Russian Guard, deputies of the regional and city dumas, military commissar of the city, as well as pupils of the educational institution and local residents.
With the initiative of assigning the name of the Hero to Lyceum No. 14, which in 1986 graduated from Vladimir Nurgaliev, the assistant to the commander of the North Caucasian district of the National Guard for work with veterans, retired colonel Alexander Tsapko and the chairman of the regional council of veterans of the law enforcement forces, retired colonel Viktor Medyanik.
After the solemn ceremony, school students showed a theatrical performance about the life path and feat of Vladimir, shared memories. At the end, the guests laid flowers and wreaths at the memorial plaque of Vladimir Nurgaliyev.
The event was held as part of a nationwide project “The name of the hero - school”, thanks to which more than 530 schools named after the heroes of the Soviet Union and Russia.
27 December 1999 of the year to an assault group under the command of Major Vladimir Nurgaliyev of the Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, the task was set to conduct a special operation to liberate the Leninsky district of the city of Grozny from militants and search for missing servicemen. The reconnaissance group was ambushed. Commander, ensuring the departure of his subordinates, was mortally wounded by an enemy sniper's bullet.
7 July 2000 of the year to the holder of the orders of Courage and “Military Merit” Vladimir Nurgaliyev was awarded the title of Hero of Russia by decree of the President of the Russian Federation (posthumously).
