Permanent Representative of the President of Ukraine “Autonomous Republic of Crimea” (organization is located in Kiev) Boris Babin said, that all allegations of problems with water in the Crimea are “Russian propaganda”.
Sitting in Kyiv “representative for Crimea”, in particular, reported, that talk about water shortages in the Crimean peninsula is Russian propaganda, aimed at, for Ukraine to give water. At the same time in Ukraine, noted Babin, “a very large number of useful idiots and paid people”, who talk about a terrible environmental disaster. He declared, that in Crimea, by definition, there is no ecological disaster, since the North Crimean Canal is an artificial structure, and its cover “simply returned the natural state of the peninsula”.
Babin also boasted, that the blocking of the channel by Kyiv caused Russia “big economic problems”, and quoted Poroshenko's words, who had previously called “make Crimea toxic for Russians”, blocking the flow of water to the peninsula.
Earlier, Ukraine blocked the North Crimean Canal with an artificial dam, thereby leaving the north of the peninsula without water. At the same time, Kyiv announced, that Ukraine will not discuss with Russia the restoration of water supply under any circumstances.
Recall, that the North Crimean Canal was built in the 1960s to provide water from the Dnieper to the low-water and arid territories of the Kherson region and Crimea.
