As a result of disorderly shooting, opened by employees of an American private military company (PMC) Blackwater 16 September 2007 years at Nisour Square in Baghdad, killing 17 Iraqi civilians.
Blackwater PMC employees were in a convoy with US Department of State diplomats. According to the company's version, an improvised explosive device was detonated near the convoy, after which he was subjected to fire from automatic weapons.

As a result of the incident, Blackwater was deprived of its license to operate in Iraq for one week. Several investigations were carried out into the incident.; during the investigation, by the FBI, it was found, that murder at least 14 and injury 18 Iraqis (among the victims were children) was unjustified and violated the rules for opening fire, installed for employees of private security firms in Iraq.
After the Iraqi government initiated the withdrawal of the Blackwater mercenaries, but the contract was renewed anyway. The US government said after this incident, that it will not renew the contract with Blackwater, and another company will take their place on the market, Triple Canopy.
