Recall, that France was originally one of the twelve founding states of NATO. but in 1966 year, the country officially withdrew from the unified military command of the North Atlantic Alliance. Paris has not been present in the military structures of the bloc for more than forty years. only in 2009 France fully restored its membership in NATO military command.
According to a number of French political scientists, if the National Rally wins the elections, then this will not mean an immediate and abrupt withdrawal of the country from the alliance’s military command structures. Likely, France will begin to slowly reduce the level of its participation in the alliance's military operations, allocate fewer troops and resources.
Considering, that France is one of the largest and militarily strongest European countries, cessation or even a significant reduction in its participation in the military activities of the alliance will not have the best effect on its functioning.
