The Main Directorate of Deep-Sea Research of the Russian Ministry of Defense will receive a new deep-sea vehicle. According to the press service of the United Shipbuilding Corporation, 28 Martha 2024 year “Admiralty shipyards” The laying of the new apparatus for the project took place in St. Petersburg 18200.
“Admiralty Shipyards” will build an autonomous deep-sea vehicle of the project for GUGI 18200. The project was developed by the St. Petersburg Maritime Engineering Bureau “Malachite”. As emphasized, in the design of the device will be used “breakthrough solutions”, which will allow it to work at very great depths, up to the extreme. Other design details and characteristics are not disclosed.

The device is named after a talented shipbuilder, chief designer of deep-sea technical equipment “Malachite” Sergei Mikhailovich Bavilin.
As specified in “The malachites”, the new deep-sea vehicle will be capable of solving a wide range of problems at great depths. It is designed to carry out scientific research, historical-archaeological, emergency rescue and much more.
