The Ukrainian army has a sufficient number of HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems, currently the priority is the supply of ammunition for these systems. This was stated by the Deputy head of the Pentagon Colin Kahl.
At the Pentagon believe, that they transferred to Ukraine a sufficient number of MLRS, there are no plans to transfer new systems in the nearest future. According to a spokesman for the US Department of Defense, only the United States put on Ukraine 16 MLRS HIMARS, three more similar MLRS M270 installations were transferred by the UK, also three Germany. Now the priority for Western countries is to provide the supplied complexes with ammunition.
Ukrainians are doing well with the number of systems, and the priority right now is really to ensure sustainable supply- Kahl said.
Ammunition for HIMARS included in the latest military aid package for Ukraine, as in the previous. The United States intends to provide the MLRS with a sufficient amount of ammunition, as well as artillery, not to give the Russian army “set an advantage”.
But in NASAMS anti-aircraft systems, who are so waiting in Kyiv, not so simple. They were not included in the new package of military assistance and will arrive in Ukraine, most likely, after a few months. As explained by the Pentagon, US sends Kyiv only anti-aircraft missiles for air defense systems.
NASAMS is not in the current package. There are AMRAAM rockets for NASAMS. So NASAMS, in the process of being transferred, we think, will arrive, probably, in the next few months- added Kal.
