Turkish tank Altay put into production again

Turkish tank Altay put into production againTurkish company BMC Savunma A.Ş., won the tender for serial production of the Altay main battle tank, produced the first car at the Arifiyeh plant.

This was stated by Defense Minister Hulusi Akar. However, the issue with the engine for the tank has not yet been resolved..

Unfortunately, there are no results on the submitted applications for an export license for the production of a power plant for Altai. Work is underway to supply engines from other countries and create a domestic power plant- featured in the Turkish edition SavunmaSanayiST.

As noted in the press, apparently the first Altay tank, released by BMC, equipped with a German engine. Its installation was originally planned. Then the development of the first national tank was carried out by the Otokar company, which eventually produced five prototypes. Subsequently, the transfer of the German engine to the Turkish side was prohibited as a result of sanctions imposed by Berlin.

AT 2018 year production task 250 Altay MBT was assigned to BMC Savunma. But the issue with the engine has not been resolved for him. On the company's website in the performance characteristics section it is indicated only, that the car is equipped with a 12-cylinder engine with electrical control of maximum power 1500 HP.

BMC Savunma relaunched Altay, equipping it with a German power plant from old stocks, in order to somehow demonstrate its activities in the segment assigned to the company.
