Completion of state tests of the new heavy flamethrower system TOS-2 (Tosochka) planned by the end of this year. The head of the holding told about it “Texnodïnamïka” Igor Nasenkov.
According to Nasenkov, state tests “Socks” will be completed before the end 2021 of the year, after which a decision will be made to put the system into service and organize mass production. The release of TOS-2 will be carried out on the basis of “Motovilikha Plants”, where a separate subdivision of the Tula NGO was created “Alloy”.
Expected, that at the end of this year JSC “Special Design Bureau” group of companies “MZ” will receive a new large production order “Socks”. The company has experience in the manufacture of new equipment, at the end 2020 of the year it supplied a batch of TOS-2 to the armament of the mobile units of the RChBZ Central Military District, deployed in the Saratov region for military operation.
Heavy flamethrower system TOS-2 is based on TOS-1 “Pinocchio” and TOS-1A “the sun”, but unlike them, it has a wheelbase and improved tactical and technical characteristics. The machine was created taking into account the experience of using such weapons during the hostilities in the Middle East..
New ammunition developed for TOS-2, which, in parallel with the complex, are undergoing state tests. New shells for TOS-2, unlike previously used, have increased range and increased power, allowing to increase the firing range “Socks” to 15 km as opposed to 6 km in the TOS-1 system “Pinocchio” and TOS-1A “the sun”.
