The Parliament of the Luhansk People's Republic considered the language law of the LPR. Deputies of the People's Council of the Republic decided to amend the Constitution of the LPR, governing the state language. After the law adopted by the People’s Council of the Luhansk People’s Republic, Russian becomes the only official language of the LPR.

The bill was introduced for consideration by the National Assembly of the LPR with the head of the republic Leonid Pasechnik.

Plenipotentiary of the head of the LPR in the Parliament of the Republic Nina Galan noted, that the Russian language plays a decisive role in the consolidation and cultural development of the people of the LPR.

noted, that recognition of the Russian language as the only state language does not detract from the right to use any other language in the LPR. Every resident of the LPR, based on the Constitution, has the right to freely use his native language and the right to freely choose a language of communication, learning and creativity.

The results of the vote on the bill: 42 deputy of the People’s Council - for, 1 abstained.

The adoption of the law will help strengthen integration processes between the LPR and the Russian Federation., protection and support of the Russian language as the state language of the Luhansk People's Republic, increase and enrichment of the spiritual culture of the state.
Today it became known, that the decision of the Ministry of Education and Science of the LPR, Ukrainian is excluded from the basic part of the curriculum for schools of the republic.

Deputy Minister of Education and Science of the LPR Olga Zhdanova (quoted by Lugansk information center):

is he (Ukrainian language) is no longer that subject, which is part of the base curriculum. At present, parents will be offered either the study of the Ukrainian language in the amount of one hour per week in that part, which is formed by the participants of the educational process. Parents were also given the choice to study their children in Ukrainian as an optional, which does not imply assessment for the study of this subject.
