At the EDEX-2018 military exhibition, the Egyptian defense industry presented the SAKR MLRS based on the Russian-made Sadko vehicle (GAS -3308), According to the Russian newspaper.
The newspaper reminds, that Russian all-terrain vehicles are currently used in the armies of many states for the transfer of personnel, transportation of ammunition and other military cargo. In some countries, for example in Syria, they are also equipped with various types of artillery weapons - from coaxial anti-aircraft guns ZU-23-2 to 57-mm anti-tank guns of the Second World War (ZiS-2).
Due to its high mobility, this technique has worked well in combat with terrorist groups.
unknown, how much did the Syrian experience influence Egyptian developers, but they also went the same way, armed "Sadko" 122-mm multiple launch rocket system SAKR. This car was demonstrated in Egypt for the first time.
Previously, local versions of the Soviet Grad installation were mounted on ZIL-131 vehicles, Ural-4320 and KamAZ-43118, as well as for ATS-59G tractors.
On the basis of "Sadko" engineers assembled a 4-pipe fragment of the installation. It is assumed, that such combat vehicles will begin to enter service with the landing and other mobile units of the Armed Forces of Egypt.
