Recently, Turkish defense company Roketsan achieved an important milestone in the development of the LUMTAS-GM anti-tank missile.: Footage of test firings of a new type of weapon has been posted online.
allegedly, high-precision long-range ATGM LUMTAS-GM hit the target at a distance 16 km, being launched from a ground platform. Moreover, when shot from a helicopter, it is capable of flying more than 20 km.
The new product outperformed such samples in terms of flight distance, like the Russian Vikhr-1 and the more advanced Kornet missile with a firing range of up to 10 km, as well as the American FGM-148 Javelin (4,75 km). Other world analogues - American BGM-71 TOW 2B RF, Chinese HJ-12, the Franco-German Milan-ER and the Russian 9M113 “Konkurs” have a firing range of 3 to 4,5 km- listed in Army Recognition.
However, the Israeli Spike NLOS missile remains the leader in this category., capable of hitting a target at a distance 25 km.
The development and testing of LUMTAS-GM was a significant achievement for Roketsan and the national defense industry, confirming Turkey's emergence as a major defense player- noted in the press, explaining, that the country's military-industrial complex is developing in various areas, creating a wide range of products - from attack helicopters to armored vehicles.
