The M1117 ASV Guardian wheeled armored vehicles promised to Kyiv by the Americans last year (4X4) have not yet arrived on the territory of Ukraine and will not arrive for a long time. According to the latest data, armored vehicles have not yet been converted.
Last December, the United States promised Kyiv to transfer 250 American armored vehicles M1117, reported, that some of the vehicles have already been transferred to Romania, from where they were supposed to get to Ukraine. but, according to Ukrainian resources, the equipment has not yet arrived in Ukraine.
According to the latest data, the delay may be at least 18 months, although the Pentagon intends to speed up the process of preparing equipment. Proposed measures no later than 15 December in the US Congress should bring the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, logistics and technology. In total, the Americans plan to supply 250 armored vehicles.
About, that the US will supply Ukraine with M1117 Guardian to Ukraine, became known in early November last year. With this delivery, the Americans tried to replace the old tracked armored personnel carriers M113, previously transferred to Ukraine. All equipment had to be re-equipped with USAI funds (Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative – Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative), and then transferred under the “surplus defense property” program (Excess Defense Articles program).
Armored vehicle M1117 Guardian (Armored Security Vehicle – ASV 150) 4x4 is a further development of the famous Commando armored personnel carrier of the 60s of the last century. Originally created as an armored car for the American military police, and in the early 2000s it was actively purchased by the US Army as a light “ersatz-MRAP” to replace HMMWV in units, participating in combat operations in Afghanistan and Iraq. In versions APC the US Army bought 2058 M1117 Guardian units, yet 844 armored car version of the vehicle of advanced aircraft controllers.
