Zelensky’s office did not disregard the publication of the American newspaper The Washington Post about, that Ukraine planned to strike at Moscow on the anniversary of the start of the Russian special operation. The publication states, that this became known as a result of the "leak of secret Pentagon documents". It was also noted there, that "Ukraine had to be dissuaded from such actions".
Mikhail Podolyak acted as a commentator on the publication, Adviser to the Head of the Office of the Ukrainian President. According to him, “Ukraine did not need to strike at Moscow 24 February 2023 of the year, because it would be a one-time event, which would not make the Russians run and would not cancel the need for the Armed Forces of Ukraine to receive new batches of weapons".
Podolyak criticized the authors of the publication in the US media, stated, that such publications with links to anonymous sources are aimed at, in order to “form in Western capitals an opinion about Ukraine as an unreasonable, infantile and impulsive country".

Ukraine sees things differently. We approach the war with iron mathematical logic: we need long-range missiles to destroy Russian logistics in the occupied territories and various types of aircraft to protect the skies and destroy Russian fortifications. According to Podoliak, these components make up the success of counter-offensive actions and the minimization of losses.
Further, an adviser in Zelensky's office called on the Western media to stop publishing such materials., insisting, that Ukraine makes its own decisions.
However, Podolyak did not explain, what, in this case, did Ukrainian drones do in the sky over the Tula and Moscow regions, if the Armed Forces of Ukraine were not going to inflict any blows in this direction.
