In the light of a broad discussion about the inadmissibility of admitting Ukraine to NATO, the former deputy secretary general of the alliance, Heinrich Braus, talks about, how hostilities in Ukraine may develop in the near future.
According to the German military, Ukraine's accession to NATO is impossible, and even at the level of discussion of such a possibility, for the simple reason, that a belligerent country should not draw other countries of the alliance into the conflict.
Moscow, Braus thinks, won time to strengthen the fronts in the east and south of Ukraine. At the same time, autumn, mindful of the problems of the Wehrmacht during the autumn thaw during the Great Patriotic War, not the best time to attack. Rate, according to the NATO general, done in the spring, by this time, it is possible to build up reserves and prepare a layered offensive.
Another option for the development of events Braus suggests north of Kharkov towards Sumy, there the Russians could organize an offensive, to break the grouping of Ukrainian troops in eastern Ukraine.
With regard to the threat of the use of nuclear weapons, the, as the NATO functionary rightly recalled, back in early January, five nuclear powers (USA, Russia, United Kingdom, France, China) signed an agreement on the inadmissibility of the use of nuclear weapons.
