At the second International Maritime Security Conference commander of Naval Forces of Ukraine Igor Voronchenko presented a strategy for development of the Navy to 2035 of the year. Strategy compiled together with UK specialists, Norway, USA, Sweden, Poland, and the Turkish Republic.
It was stated, that the Ukrainian Navy must keep aggression, protect sovereignty, ensure the security and economic growth, and that these objectives must be met together with the national forces of the strategic partners of the sea and the sea towards. According to Voronchenko, Strategic partners of the country has helped define the thrust of Ukraine to the EU and NATO, Besides, this has affected the direction of reform and development of the Ukrainian security forces.
Voronchenko said, that the results of the reforms will be the "revival of the naval solvency of Ukraine and reliable protection of the country and the sea".
Among the main challenges of the strategy we have been named innovation and “future war”, “factor RF”, the impact of economic development and cooperation.
Commander of the Ukrainian Navy also noted, what to 2035 , the Navy should be “modern, rapid and innovative forces, able to protect the people of Ukraine and the national interests in marine and coastal environments through asymmetric and decisive operations with well-motivated staff, that is configured only to win”.
The plans to Voronchenko 2025 was to establish control over the territorial waters of Ukraine, and to 2030 year - within the maritime economic zone.
