According to the American edition of Newsweek, now the US is worried about Russian nuclear submarines. The magazine cites the words of Professor of the American Naval War College Michael Petersen, who declared, that the latest Russian nuclear submarines pose a critical threat to the United States.
Professor noted, that the Chinese have naval forces, likely, better prepared for combat operations on water and in the air, but Russia is dangerous in the underwater space.
According to Petersen, as well as other experts, interviewed by Newsweek, Russian submarines have recently been increasingly noticed off the coast of European countries and the United States.
The construction of nuclear submarines today can afford only six states, in which they are in service - the United States, Russia, China, United Kingdom, France and India.
At the same time, the United States ranks first in the world in terms of the number of nuclear submarines., which, according to some, about 70 nuclear submarines. Russia is in second place with almost 40 submarines. China has 60 submarines with nuclear weapons, of which only 10 nuclear submarines.
