The Ukrainian press reports on the appearance of the Armed Forces of Ukraine «mobilization» variant of T-72A tanksIn Ukraine, the so-called “mobilization” T-72 tanks, representing a simplified version of the MBT T-72AMT, developed for the APU in 2017 year. Modernization “conventional” T-72 to the level of T-72AMT was produced by the Kiev Armored Repair Plant, deliveries started at 2020 year.

According to Ukrainian media, during training of the 3rd separate tank brigade, T-72 tanks were seen in “simplified” configuration, so called “mobilization”. They completely replaced the basic observation devices of the commander and gunner, no IR illuminator “Moon”, an open turret with an anti-aircraft machine gun was installed, the tank is equipped with the usual standard cast tracks with a serial hinge. Other changes are possible, but they are inside.

It is assumed, that these are T-72A tanks restored taking into account the available capabilities, located in the septic tanks of armored factories. Although there is another option, which is more real – these are polish “empty” OBT T-72M1, being an export version of the T-72A.

earlier it was reported, that the T-72 tanks undergoing modernization at the Kiev Repair Plant to the T-72AMT level eventually receive a dynamic protection system “Knife” instead “contact”, sight 1K13 for firing guided missiles “Kombat”. Besides, navigation system CH-3003 is installed on tanks “Basalt”, night vision devices with image intensifier tubes of the third generation, more powerful V-84-1 engine instead of V-46, chassis elements from the T-80 and modern radio stations Aselsan or Harris.
