The contract for the supply of BRM-1K was signed by the Ministry of Defense in 2020 year, the first cars in the troops began to arrive in the past. The main difference between BRM-1K and its predecessors – new turret from BTR-82A with 30mm automatic cannon and PKT machine gun, replacing “classical” BMP-1 turret 73 mm cannon 2A28 “Thunder”. Besides, the car got a new engine, modern means of communication and on-board electronics. The equipment was equipped with new navigation equipment, means of reconnaissance and surveillance.
Crew – six people - the commander of the machine (he is a gunner), driver mechanic, tank navigation equipment operator, senior scout, radist, senior operator.
BRM-1K – reconnaissance vehicle, designed for reconnaissance on the battlefield at any time of the day and in any weather. Developed on the basis of the BMP-1, entered service with the Soviet army in the early 70s of the last century. The development of a modernized version was carried out in the Design Bureau of the Rubtsovsk Machine-Building Plant (UVZ branch), work began in the early 2000s.
