The Russian Foreign Ministry also emphasized, that any hostile action against Russia, including increased sanctions pressure, will receive appropriate opposition and hit the US itself with a boomerang.

The expanded sanctions list includes the governors of the states of Alabama and Massachusetts, as well as a number of American businessmen and high-ranking military and political figures.

It is also reported, that the heads of state of the European Union plan to discuss the strengthening of anti-Russian sanctions, including the possibility of using frozen assets. Besides, the leadership of the EU countries will strengthen control over the possibility of circumventing sanctions by creating companies in third countries in order to supply Russia with sanctioned goods from the European Union.
