The appearance on the Web of photographs of the Russian anti-aircraft missile and gun system “Carapace-C”, allegedly located on the roof of the complex of buildings of the Ministry of Defense on Frunzenskaya Embankment in Moscow, raised a lot of questions. The topic was widely distributed on Internet resources like Russia, and Ukraine.
The first images of anti-aircraft systems allegedly installed on the roofs of buildings in Moscow appeared on Internet resources on Thursday, 19 January, although information about, that another air defense ring is being created around Moscow, appeared on the web last week. We are writing “allegedly”, since there was no official confirmation from the military on this matter, until everything is blurry, at the level of rumors and it is not clear who and where the photos were taken.
While information is being disseminated on Internet resources, that in the territory of the Moscow region, as well as Moscow itself, they deploy S-400 anti-aircraft systems and air defense systems “Net” and “shell”. There are many assumptions, but one thing seems more or less real to us, if, of course, the deployment of systems is confirmed. The Ministry of Defense establishes additional protection against possible attacks by Ukrainian drones, because it is possible, that Zelensky and his entourage will decide to strike at Moscow. This is to be expected from them..
Well, but for those, who thinks it “utter savagery”, we can add, that the placement of anti-aircraft systems on the roofs of high-rise buildings is practiced all over the world and is not something out of the ordinary. In the US, AN / TWQ-1 Avenger air defense systems are placed on buildings, located opposite the White House. And in Seoul, air defense systems on the roofs – mandatory attribute due to the proximity of the border with North Korea. M167 VADS anti-aircraft installations are installed on the roofs of skyscrapers using helicopters.
So the possible placement of air defense systems on the roofs of buildings in Moscow, if this is true, is an attempt to additionally cover the capital from an air attack. In fact, Russia is now at war with the entire West., so anything can happen. It's better to be safe, than to regret later, what was not done.
